Grass Roots wins Sales Training award
27 February 2009
Grass Roots has collected the award for Sales Training Programme/Initiative of the Year at the National Sales Awards.
The programme, known as Xcite, was developed by the learning arm of Grass Roots and production house Juice for GAME Stores Group, with the aim of exciting store staff with knowledge and skills around their customers' motivations for making a purchase. The initiative involved the engagement of regional and store managers and all 3,500 employees across the UK through workshop and in-store activity based learning. The training programme covered core selling and customer service skills such as questioning and closing techniques, using interactive, video led methodology.
Given GAME staff's sophistication with multimedia, it was imperative that the sales learning was communicated and delivered in a motivational way. The use of a fun, game style DVD enabled best practice selling skills to be powerfully conveyed and sales staff clearly understood the benefits to themselves of employing the training techniques.
Malcolm Knight, HR Director for GAME, commented: "Winning the award is recognition for a great team effort and all the hard work that has gone into Xcite. The programme is improving service in our stores, as our colleagues are fully engaged in a practical sales solution to continually enhance customer service."
Steven Morris of Grass Roots was equally enthusiastic: "It's been a pleasure to work on this training programme. It was about engaging staff and making the training meaningful to them. Thanks to the contribution of all parties we have been able to bring together the two things that are critical for employee engagement: communication and learning. The reaction from the GAME teams has been superb."
